One of the many strengths I have appreciated about MECS during my first 6 months here, has been the commitment to Christian Education. Christian Education which has at its heart, the pursuit of responsive discipleship for the transformation of the whole person for the development of character and the learning of wisdom.
The Term 2 Middle Primary Core Studies Unit: ‘Change Happens’ is an excellent example of this. The Biblical perspective underpinning this unit is that God created all things and has supremacy. He made systems and processes in nature to change and govern themselves, so that everything, even seemingly random changes have a pattern and purpose. Due to the fall, people disrupted this order with the introduction of sin. God, through His son Jesus, created a rescue plan to redeem and restore His kingdom to the perfect order that it once was.
The holistic learning in this unit instructs the mind (head), shapes the heart, and equips the hand:
Change happens. Just as our personal experiences over the course of the recent pandemic have illustrated this in ways that cannot be ignored. The participation of our faithful, unchanging loving God at work in our lives to gives us a ‘future and hope’ (Jeremiah 29:11) has also been evident. He has created all things and has supremacy in all things.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
If you have the opportunity, ask one of our Middle Primary students to share the insights they are developing about change and the constancy of God.
