MECS is blessed with an active community of parents and grandparents that love to volunteer and be involved in school life. The Friends of MECS group contributes to the life of MECS in many ways, and is not primarily a fundraising group. We currently have a number of parent run volunteer groups/activities, including a Parent Prayer Group that meets on the school grounds weekly to pray; we run Fair Trade and ‘Locally Made’ Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls; we have a knitting/crochet group that meets weekly to support charities with their creations (blankets/shawls/baby clothes etc.) and we have our regular ‘Cook Off’ days where volunteers spend a day cooking meals to fill our Community Freezer so that we are prepared and able to assist people in our community when they are sick or struggling. Being involved in Friends of MECS activities is an excellent way to get to know other parents, and feel part of the community. If you would like to know more or get involved, please contact our Community Relations Officer, Jenny Taylor, via the main office.
