Busy Bees
Playgroup

Sandpits, somersaults and silliness are the norm at playgroup but this space also provides an opportunity for children to interact with each other and build familiarity with the school environment.

Sessions are held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:15 - 10:45am, during school terms.

Busy Bees Playgroup is a wonderful opportunity for children and parents to attend a facilitated playgroup session with other families. Our sessions are planned and led by a qualified and experienced teacher who is passionate about helping families connect with each other. Our values & biblical worldview are integrated into planning, with prayer time and Bible stories included in sessions. We plan activities in response to children interests and developmental stages, including free play, outdoor play and group time with stories and songs.

Families are required to bring their own snacks, which the children enjoy as they sit together. All sessions take place in our Kinder building, allowing parents and children to get to know the facilities and educators, supporting a smooth transition into Kinder when the time comes.

Meet our Playgroup Facilitator, Jemma!

Jemma is our delightful and effervescent Playgroup Facilitator and has been leading Busy Bees since 2021.

Adult female wearing dark green top, black cardigan and MECS lanyard smiles at camera.

Jemma combines her primary teaching background, her passion for building community and her natural warmth to create a space where children and parents feel a sense of belonging.

Each week Jemma plans beautiful play based experiences to capture children's interests, extend their skills and thinking and enhance their social skills.

As a mum of 4 children at MECS and a past student of MECS she understands the uniqueness of the MECS community and the value of Christian education so is deliberate about extending this to families with young children through Busy Bees.

Jemma also works as part of the Kinder staff team and in her spare time she loves to enjoy nature and play basketball.
