2024 Primary Indonesian Teacher
Mount Evelyn Christian School is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic and capable teacher of Prep to Year 6 Indonesian, with potential for some Secondary. This is a part time negotiable position (0.33-0.60 FTE), commencing 19 January 2024.
This position could suit a new graduate or experienced Indonesian teacher.
We would like the successful applicant to wholeheartedly join a team implementing a distinctively biblical approach to education.
Key selection criteria
- Passionate about Indonesian and able to inspire young students and other teachers to learn Indonesian.
- Fluent in Indonesian with good insight into Indonesian culture.
- Is able to articulate a Christian perspective for language learning and shapes curriculum and pedagogy accordingly.
- Demonstrates initiative.
- Can pursue innovative approaches to the Teaching and Learning of Indonesian.
- VIT registered.

Secondary Wellbeing Officer
Mount Evelyn Christian School has a part time ongoing position available for a Secondary Wellbeing Officer commencing immediately or in Term 1, 2024. Preferably, the successful applicant will work five days per week, 8am – 3pm each day.
The Secondary Wellbeing Officer has a broad role. They undertake a variety of duties which mostly comprises assisting and supporting students with social and emotional challenges, with the goal to transition students back into the classroom and other educational activities. This role will include connecting with female students and helping them to manage in times of social and emotional distress. The position may also include some administrative or clerical tasks. The duties are performed under close direction and supervision from the Secondary Wellbeing Coordinator.
Key selection criteria
- Knowledge, skill, and experience in providing emotional support to students with mental health and wellbeing challenges.
- Work with social and emotionally distressed students individually, and in small groups effectively.
- Can work independently (initiative skills) and work collaboratively as a team.
- Strong organisational and documentation skills.
- Know and comply with ChildSafe and confidentiality protocols and boundaries.
- Previous professional or community volunteer experience in working with young people with mental health and wellbeing challenges.

We have a fixed-term position available for a Secondary Art & Visual Communication Teacher (Years 7-12) commencing during Term 3, 2023, or as soon as possible. The FTE is negotiable up to full-time. This is a fixed-term contract until January 2024, with the possibility for an ongoing position.

- Teach VCE Units 1-4 Visual Communication and Design and VCE Art: Creative Practice. Prior VCE Art teaching not essential. If you are keen to expand your teaching experience into VCE then we will mentor you and support your progress.

MECS provides a limited number of student placement positions for those completing their Certificate IV in Education Support. Placements can be in the Primary or Secondary school. People completing their Education Support student placement at MECS will be provided with support to complete assignments set by their course provider. In addition to this, placement students will be allocated to a variety of educational settings within the school at the direction of the Education Support Coordinators.
