Co-Curricular

— DISCOVER OUR

Co-Curricular

We believe that education goes beyond the classroom. At MECS we offer enriching co-curricular programs that complements our academic curriculum and allows students to explore their passions, grow in character, and develop new skills.

With a wide range of options to choose from, including sports, arts, music, drama, leadership, and more, our co-curricular program offers something for every student. Our program fosters teamwork, resilience, leadership, and a sense of belonging, while also promoting physical health, creativity, self-expression, and personal growth. Students have the opportunity to challenge themselves, make new friends, and create lasting memories.

Sporting Program

Through our sports program, students have the opportunity to represent MECS at interschool sports. These include individual sports such as:

  • Swimming
  • Athletics
  • Cross-country
  • Netball
  • Basketball
  • Badminton
  • Volleyball

We also offer an additional Netball and Soccer Sports Academy outside school hours.

Performing Arts

For students specifically interested in the areas of performing arts, we have a number of different opportunities to develop their skills including an instrumental program, band and ensemble opportunities, and a biennial secondary musical/drama production. Instrumental students have the opportunity to perform at music recitals, which is widely supported by the school community. Students involved in the Secondary Band perform at assemblies, productions, musical evenings and community events.

Student Leadership

There is a range of Student Leadership opportunities available to students in the Senior School. Students may volunteer or be nominated by staff for the formal ‘Student Leadership Team’ who have a particular focus on culture and community within the school. Student leaders attend leadership camps and workshops to develop their leadership skills. They also choose to participate in the Worship Band, various event organising committees, or captain sports teams. Senior School student leaders are elected by staff annually. These leaders are responsible for running assemblies, making speeches at key events, liaising between staff and students, exemplifying the behavioural values of the school and encouraging the student community.
